Restart

Restart comes to XO Nightclub in August for the best night of funky disco and soulful house music with residents Ororo and Dingo8, plus special guest Kevin Bumpers.

Raised in Cleveland Ohio, Kevin’s music style was heavily influenced by his parents who would play Disco, Funk, Soul and R&B from the 70’s and 80’s during their family gatherings. He was 21 when he went to his first underground party and watched as the DJ worked the crowd into a frenzy with House Music. Being a DJ has become his passion ever since.

His sound continues to evolve with various house styles from vocal & soulful, jackin & funky, bumpy UKG 4×4, to deep & discofied. In 2012 he founded the monthly house night known as GrooveHaus Cleveland and hosts a weekly radio show called Groovehaus Sessions every Thursday night at 9 pm EST (2 am BST) on D3EP Radio Network. Once a month on Saturday night the house music faithful gather to hear international and local DJ’s dropping the best in funky and soulful house vibes.

Kevin has shared the decks with well know artists Dj Dan, DJ Spen, Todd Edwards, Kevin Saunderson, Tony Humphries, Todd Terry, Jask, Stacy Kidd, Scott Diaz, Czboogie, Trevor Lamont, and Chicago’s very own Dajae! His energy and style are infectious and when Kevin is doing his thing, the floor will be jumpin’! To Kevin, House Music is more than just a feeling—it’s a way of life!

Kevin will be joined by Restart residents, Ororo and Dingo8. No cover.

Restart

Restart returns in January for the best night of funky disco and soulful house music with residents Ororo and Dingo8, plus special guest, J. Lettow. No cover. Kitchen open late. Free parking in the adjacent lot.

Behind the decks for 15 years and being known to bring the vibe to dance floor, J. Lettow has had a House music influence most his life. Growing up in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, he had an early edge on the music. In his teens his father lived in Chicago, the birthplace of House making his exposure to the funk rise to a new level.

In 1995 J. moved to Cincinnati Ohio, a city deeply rooted with funk and soul music. Bootsy Collins, The Isley Brothers, and Midnight Star are just a few groups that came from the area. J. definitely followed that formula and heritage of keeping the cities funky vibe in his music. In 1996 he started playing music regularly all over the North and Midwest states. Shopping from the legendary Club Head Records in Cincinnati, his collection had plenty of choice picks for the heads.

In 2003 he started Lingo Recordings. With his partners, they sought to give new and established producers an outlet for their music while keeping the house scene alive in their own town. They stay committed to bringing quality dance music on a consistent basis for the house lovers at home and abroad. J. has created his own sound by evolving with music selection as well as production.

Restart at Avalon

Same House.
New Home.
Fourth Fridays.

Join us for the first installment of Restart at Avalon Danceclub and Lounge on Friday, October 23rd! Featuring DJs Ororo and Dingo8 with special guest, Jaysoul. With no cover and the music beginning at 11:00 p.m. each month, we’ll have the Avalon’s sound system tuned to perfection, so come out and join us for a night of soul, disco, funky house with anything and everything in between.

Jason Johnson, better known as Jaysoul, grew up in New England in the hayday of the electronic music scene, watching the veterans of the scene how it was done. While learning the craft of djing from the greats, Jason was influenced by deep-disco-house and acid traxx he heard. Playing records for over 20 years, from small house parties back in New England to the established circuit in the Midwest, Jason has earned his reputation by playing alongside some of the best. In 2001, Jaysoul released his first full length album Spiritual Elevation, a co-production with friend Mr. Smith, and cutting his teeth in audio production as one of the founding members of Frameshift Recordings in Cleveland, Ohio, but Austin, Texas is where Jaysoul fell smack-dab in the middle of one of the most powerful music scenes in the country. Austin is also where he met up with long time colleague Adam Warped and started his innovative record label, Whiskey Pickle.
