Restart at Avalon

Restart returns in March for the best night of funky disco edits and soulful house music with residents Ororo and Dingo8, plus a special appearance by founding member Sparrow, and special guest, Ponchartrain. No cover. Kitchen open late. Free parking in the adjacent lot.

Detroit native and resident, Pontchartrain has been scouring record stores and DJing since 2005. During that time, in addition to crate-digging alongside some of Detroit’s finest collectors, he has played many roles in the industry including promotion, remixing, producing and DJing under various monikers. The last decade of work, with the help of some notable Detroit mentors, have helped him cultivate a sound that represents the core of Detroit and Chicago house music, in equal parts with their disco and funk roots.

In his first year alone, his work has hit the top of the vinyl best-seller lists and been charted by some of the biggest names in the disco and house realm. His signing with one of the most established edits labels, Whiskey Disco, as well as helping to create a brand new label, Lovedancing, with his flagship EP selling out in record time, has marked him as one of the strongest introductions to the increasingly popular disco and funk revival.

Pontchartrain has releases planned for late 2015 and early 2106 on various labels including Whiskey Disco, Lovedancing, Kolour LTD, Editorial, Masterworks, and more. He has recently started internationally touring and is open for bookings worldwide.

Restart

Restart returns in February for the best night of funky disco and soulful house music with residents Ororo and Dingo8, plus special guests, Andre Leone and Scorpius Max. No cover. Kitchen open late. Free parking in the adjacent lot.

From being bit by the “ravebug” back in 1997, Andre Leone developed a serious love for electronic music, mainly House and Techno. While being influenced by such DJs like Derrick Carter, Mark Farina, Derrick May, Carl Cox and countless others, Andre decided to start DJing himself and hasn’t looked back. By learning the tricks of the trade from his fellow DJ friends and by moving to Chicago in 1999 and getting schooled in Chicago House Music, Andre has took everything, paid some dues and has molded himself into what he plays today while learning along the way.

Andre Leone has become a DJ not to be missed. He brings a smooth blend of various shades of House music, from chunky and funky to jazzy and deep,Sure to get the dancefloor jackin!! Andre has played everywhere in the Midwest including Chicago, Indiana as well as, holding residencies in Columbus and his hometown of Cleveland. Andre has also rocked the floors alongside headlining acts such as DJ Dan, Roy Davis Jr., Andy Caldwell, Bryan Jones, The Sound Republic, Brian Gardner and Jevon Jackson.

Scorpius Max (aka Max Terrior) is a Genuine article of House Music. Max plays a sophisticated blend of High Energy, Soul-filled House, an array of odd originals, and produces one of your more unique listening and dance experiences. A Chicago native, Terrior is well groomed in the progressions of House Music from before it was called “House Music” through to its many subsequent offshoots. He has spent the last 20 plus years DJing; bringing his sound to a state of increased intensity and is now proficient in a variety of music genres.

Restart

Restart returns in January for the best night of funky disco and soulful house music with residents Ororo and Dingo8, plus special guest, J. Lettow. No cover. Kitchen open late. Free parking in the adjacent lot.

Behind the decks for 15 years and being known to bring the vibe to dance floor, J. Lettow has had a House music influence most his life. Growing up in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, he had an early edge on the music. In his teens his father lived in Chicago, the birthplace of House making his exposure to the funk rise to a new level.

In 1995 J. moved to Cincinnati Ohio, a city deeply rooted with funk and soul music. Bootsy Collins, The Isley Brothers, and Midnight Star are just a few groups that came from the area. J. definitely followed that formula and heritage of keeping the cities funky vibe in his music. In 1996 he started playing music regularly all over the North and Midwest states. Shopping from the legendary Club Head Records in Cincinnati, his collection had plenty of choice picks for the heads.

In 2003 he started Lingo Recordings. With his partners, they sought to give new and established producers an outlet for their music while keeping the house scene alive in their own town. They stay committed to bringing quality dance music on a consistent basis for the house lovers at home and abroad. J. has created his own sound by evolving with music selection as well as production.
